A Day at Gyeongbokgung: Guiding with Joy

I recently had the opportunity to guide a family on a tour of Gyeongbokgung Palace, and it was a delightful experience. The day was March 8th. As I shared the palace's history, from its grand architecture to its role during the Joseon Dynasty, I could see their genuine curiosity and excitement. They were especially interested in the Geunjeongjeon Hall, where the king held official meetings, and the intricate details of the palace’s design, Dancheong, which reflected traditional Korean culture.

During the tour, the family asked me questions about the palace’s history, and their enthusiasm made guiding them even more rewarding. One of the best experiences during the tour was watching their reactions to the changing of the guard ceremony, a reenactment that showcases the discipline and elegance of Joseon dynasty royal guards. Also, the children were very curious. Although I wasn’t able to finish the tour at Heungbokjeon, seeing their excitement throughout the experience made me feel really glad.

Overall, guiding this family at Gyeongbokgung Palace was an intriguing experience. Their enjoyment reminded me of how special it is to share Korea’s rich history and cultural heritage with others. Even though we didn’t complete the full tour, their curiosity and appreciation made it a nice experience.
